Market signal

On August 27, SK Telecom announced plans to create SK Horizon from datacenter and submarine cable assets. Establishment is planned for 2027, subject to the required procedures. The announcement does not mean the transaction is already complete.

What it means for the ISP

For an ISP, the useful lesson is to give hosted services their own business visibility. Separating revenue, costs and committed capacity supports infrastructure expansion decisions. There is no need to reproduce the Korean operator’s scale or corporate structure.

A managed-video pilot should identify willing customers, consumption per camera and support hours. Storage, inference and reserves can then be sized against that demand. Phased investment reduces exposure to idle capacity, while still requiring procurement and growth planning.

How it connects with Horus ISP

Horus ISP can connect cameras, analytics, events, evidence, permissions and apps across customer resources, datacenters and cloud. In the proposed offer, the ISP node consolidates multi-tenant management and shared services; customers retain the functions needed for local continuity.

The SK Horizon case demonstrates neither a Horus partnership nor assured higher profitability. Investment decisions should rely on contracts, load tests and the operator’s own costs.

Services and packages

  • Connectivity, recording and support priced per site.
  • Evidence retention tiers based on capacity and duration.
  • An integrator service with clear responsibilities and customer isolation.
  • Premium continuity with backup and recovery tested in advance.
